Kanye, and why it is on this site

Kanye is one of the large southern villages, the seat of the Bangwaketse, spread across a hilly site above the Mmakgodumo Dam. It is not a tourist town, but it is on the way to the Trans-Kalahari Highway and it has the kind of scenery southern Botswana is not usually credited with.

Its accommodation is small and locally owned. We list it because southern Botswana is thinly covered by every guide to the country, this one included until now.

Who it suits

  • Overlanders and self-drive parties joining the Trans-Kalahari route.
  • Travellers who want a cultural village alongside a bed.
  • Mixed parties where some camp and some want a chalet.
