Accommodation in Botswana
Every property we have checked, grouped by the area you will actually be sleeping in.
Where you sleep in Botswana shapes the trip more than it does almost anywhere else, because the type of property usually determines the type of land it sits on, and the land determines what you are allowed to do. Start with the type of stay you want, or jump to the area you will actually be sleeping in.
If you are here for safari accommodation specifically, that is a subset rather than the whole catalogue: of the 638 licensed properties we list, 17 are tented camps, 32 lodges, 7 safari lodges and 0 safari camps, plus a handful of island camps, bush camps and star-bed platforms. The rest — guesthouses, hotels, bed and breakfasts, self-catering and campsites — are the town and corridor stock that gets you to and from them. Both matter, and a Botswana trip normally uses both.

Plan the rest of your trip
- Parks and reserves — land tenure, permitted activities and the fee structure.
- Destinations — the six regions and their gateway towns.
- Self-drive, safaris and activities, itineraries, travel planning and wildlife and seasons.

Camping in parks is booked separately from park entry
This trips up more self-drive trips than anything else. Park entry fees and campsite fees are two different transactions. Entry is collected by the wildlife department; the campsite is booked with whoever manages that particular site. There is no single national reservations body in Botswana — no equivalent of a one-stop parks booking service — so a route through several reserves can mean several separate bookings with several organisations.
Two consequences follow. First, in the remoter reserves a confirmed campsite booking is effectively a condition of entry, because there is nowhere else to sleep. Second, peak-season sites in Moremi, Chobe and the Kgalagadi go early; a year ahead is normal advice. Our self-drive and parks and reserves pages cover the mechanics.
How we choose what to list
We are building a broad directory of legitimate traveller accommodation across Botswana. Listings are identified from tourism registers, property and operator sources and supplementary accommodation research, then checked for identity, location and operating evidence before they are published. Inclusion is not a ranking or an endorsement, and absence is not a judgement on a property.
Coverage is deliberately weighted towards the gaps most Botswana sites leave: town accommodation on the driving routes, public and private campsites, guesthouses and community-owned properties, alongside the concession camps that dominate everyone else’s coverage. Where a property’s land status matters — inside a park, in a concession, on community land — we say so, because that determines what you can do there.
What we publish, and what we do not
We are an independent planning site, not a booking engine or a review site, and we would rather be explicit about that than imply more than we know.
- No prices. We publish no rates for any property, and no park or camping fee amounts. Rates change by season and by market, and a stale number is worse than none.
- No availability from us. Any live availability or booking function on this site comes from our booking partner, not from our own research, and reflects that partner’s inventory rather than everything that exists in Botswana.
- No star ratings or scores. We do not rank properties, award stars or aggregate review scores.
- No claim to have stayed anywhere. We describe what a category of accommodation is and where it sits in the land-tenure picture. We do not present ourselves as having visited.
Every listing is checked before it is published. A property is added only once we can confirm who it is and where it actually sits, from sources we can point to. 638 properties are published so far across seven accommodation areas and more than twenty town and gateway pages, and the directory keeps growing. Where the evidence does not hold up, we hold the property back rather than guess.
Ready to look at somewhere specific?
Start with the area you will actually be sleeping in — the seven area pages above hold every property in our Botswana catalogue, each with its own guide and availability route.

We do not publish rates or ratings.
Prices change, availability changes, and a star rating from a desk in another country is worth nothing. What we can tell you is what a place is.
