Lobatse sits in a valley about seventy kilometres south of Gaborone on the road to the Pioneer Gate border post. It is one of the older towns in the country, long associated with the abattoir, the High Court and the railway, and its accommodation reflects that: guesthouses in town and a game lodge on the farms outside it, used by border traffic and court business more than by holidaymakers.
