Accommodation in Lobatse
Lobatse sits in a valley about seventy kilometres south of Gaborone on the road to the Pioneer Gate border post. It is one of the older towns in the country, long associated with the abattoir, the High Court and the railway, and its accommodation reflects that: guesthouses in town and a game lodge on the farms outside it, used by border traffic and court business more than by holidaymakers.
Lobatse lies south of Gaborone on the A1, in the hills near the South African border, and it is one of the older towns in the country. It carries a small registered bed stock relative to its history, and most travellers meet it either as a short hop from the capital or on the way to and from the border crossings in the south-east.
The accommodation is correspondingly modest: a handful of licensed guesthouses and small hotels serving business travel, official visits and border traffic rather than tourism.
