These terms of use govern your use of Botswana Travel Guide. They are short, and the important part is not the legal boilerplate but the safety caveat: this is a research-based planning guide, and operational information about Botswana changes faster than any website can track.
Acceptance of these terms of use
By using this site you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use the site. They apply alongside our privacy policy and affiliate disclosure.
What this site is for
Everything here is published for general information and trip planning. It is not professional advice of any kind — not travel, legal, medical, immigration, insurance, veterinary or financial advice — and it must not be relied on as a substitute for it. Consult a qualified professional, or the relevant authority, before acting on anything that matters.
We are an independent guide with no government or trade-body affiliation, and we have not visited the places we write about — see our about page. We do not operate, own, sell or book accommodation, transport or tours.
Safety and operational information — verify before you travel
This is the clause we would most like you to read.
Information about roads and tracks, border posts and their opening hours, park gates and access, park and vehicle fees, permits, convoy and vehicle requirements, water and fuel availability, and seasonal closures changes frequently, and official sources on Botswana routinely contradict each other. We research from primary and official sources, date-stamp volatile facts and re-check them on a schedule, and where sources conflict we say so rather than pick one. None of that makes any statement here current at the moment you read it.
You must verify operational and safety-critical information with the relevant authority before travelling — the Department of Wildlife and National Parks for parks, fees, access and vehicle rules; immigration and customs authorities for border crossings; and your own vehicle supplier or operator for what your vehicle and paperwork permit. Remote travel in Botswana carries real risk. Decisions about routes, vehicles, self-sufficiency and whether to travel at all are yours, and you make them at your own risk. Our travel planning section explains what to check and with whom.
No warranty of accuracy
We research carefully and correct promptly, but we give no warranty, express or implied, that anything on this site is accurate, complete or current. The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
If something here is wrong or out of date, please tell us: our corrections policy explains what happens next.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage — including indirect or consequential loss, lost expenditure, missed connections, refused entry, or loss arising from reliance on information published here — resulting from your use of this site or from any third party’s acts or omissions. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Third-party links and partners
This site links to external websites, including official sources, and to accommodation booking partners, some of those links being affiliate links marked rel=”sponsored noopener”. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, prices, availability, review scores, terms or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement or a guarantee.
Any booking is a contract between you and the partner or property, never with us. We publish no prices, availability, ratings or review scores of our own; those shown belong to the partner. Our accommodation section provides context, not rates.
Intellectual property and permitted use
The text, structure and original images here are our property or used under licence, and protected by copyright. You may read, print and share pages for personal, non-commercial trip planning, and quote us briefly with clear attribution and a link.
You may not republish, redistribute or sell our content, scrape it in bulk, or use it to train commercial models, without written permission. Third-party names, trade marks and official sources cited here remain the property of their owners.
Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms as the site develops. The version published here is the one in force, and the last-updated date shows when it changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the amended terms.
Severability and contact
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. For the governing law and jurisdiction applicable to these terms, or for any other question about them, please contact us.
Questions go through the contact page. See also our editorial policy and destinations.
