Chobe River Cottages is a six-cottage self-catering property on President Avenue in central Kasane, on the bank of the Chobe. Each cottage has its own kitchen, which in a town where eating out means driving is worth more than it sounds — and the supermarket is a short walk away.

Who it suits
Families, longer stays, and anyone self-catering — particularly travellers arriving from a self-drive who want a kitchen and a washing machine before the next leg.
Location and access
Central Kasane on tar, about 2.7 km from Kasane Airport, roughly ten minutes from the Chobe National Park gate, and walkable to the Spar supermarket, restaurants and tour operators.
How we checked this listing
Cottage counts and facilities come from the property’s own website and the Botswana Tourism Organisation register. We have not stayed here.

A kitchen changes a Kasane stay
Kasane’s lodges are mostly full-board or restaurant-based, which is fine for two nights and expensive for five. A cottage with a kitchen and a supermarket within walking distance turns Kasane from a transit stop into somewhere you can actually base yourself for a week — day trips to Chobe, a Victoria Falls crossing, a rest day.
For families that arithmetic is even more favourable, and a lounge with a sleeper couch means four people in one unit rather than two rooms. Our Kasane guide covers what is within walking distance.
Small, central and on the water
Six cottages is small enough to be quiet and central enough to walk from, which is a combination Kasane does not offer often. The river-view deck is the shared space rather than a restaurant terrace, so the atmosphere is closer to a set of holiday flats than a lodge.
If you want a bar, a restaurant and an activity desk on site, the larger riverfront lodges do that. If you want your own front door and your own kitchen, this is the better answer.
Who Chobe River Cottages suits
- Families, for a self-contained unit sleeping four with children free.
- Longer stays, where a kitchen and a walkable supermarket change the cost of a week.
- Self-drivers coming off a camping leg who want to cook, do laundry and repack.
It suits you less if you want full board, an activity desk on site, or a large property with a bar.
