Tents at Fika Futi Safari Camp

An exclusive-use tented camp taken by a single party. The reserve does not publish a fixed tent count on its accommodation index and we have not invented one; confirm the configuration with Mashatu reservations.

Facilities at Fika Futi Safari Camp

A private camp with its own dining and fire area, run with the Mashatu guiding operation.

Who it suits

Groups who want a camp entirely to themselves, and anyone drawn to the border country and its history rather than to a lodge.

Location and access

By road via the Pont Drift border with South Africa, or by air into the Northern Tuli Game Reserve.

The Tuli Circle is a genuine curiosity

The Tuli Circle is an arc of land on the Zimbabwean side of the Shashe–Limpopo confluence, drawn in the 1890s as a ten-mile radius from a fort so that cattle could be kept away from the border. It is one of the odder lines on the map of southern Africa, and this is the part of Botswana from which you can see it.

Border country has its own game rhythm

Where three countries meet, the animals do not observe the lines. Elephant in particular move across the Shashe and Limpopo seasonally, which is why numbers in Tuli swell and fall in ways that a single reserve’s management cannot fully explain. Ask what has been moving through recently rather than relying on a general season.
