Mashatu Main Camp is a twenty-unit establishment registered with Botswana Tourism as an operating game lodge and tented camp in eastern Botswana. The Northern Tuli Game Reserve occupies the wedge of land where Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe meet, a landscape of sandstone ridges, mopane and riverine forest along the Limpopo and Motloutse. It is known for elephant and for predators, and it is reached from the South African side at Pont Drift rather than from the Botswana interior.

The national register records 20 rooms or units. We do not publish rates.

Facilities at Mashatu Main Camp

We list no facilities here. The official register records the licence class and address but not the facility detail, and no other verifiable source was available, so anything more would be guesswork.

Location and access

In the Northern Tuli area of eastern Botswana, in the corner where the Limpopo and Shashe rivers meet the South African and Zimbabwean borders. The national register records this establishment as operating but does not publish a physical address for it, so we place it at region level rather than guess at a plot or a concession.

Francistown, and why it is on this site

Francistown is Botswana’s second city and a working one: mining, freight and the road and rail routes to Zimbabwe and South Africa. Very few people come here for a holiday, and the accommodation reflects that.

It matters to travellers anyway, because it is the practical overnight between the Tuli Block, the Makgadikgadi and the border posts. Many of its beds are in bed and breakfasts on suburban plots that never appear on an international booking channel.

Who it suits

  • Travellers entering Botswana at Pont Drift or Platjan
  • Photographers working the Tuli sandstone country
  • Guests wanting elephant and predator viewing outside the delta
  • Visitors combining Tuli with a South African itinerary
