Savute Safari Lodge stands on the Savute Channel overlooking the Savute Marsh, in the western reaches of Chobe National Park. Chalets at Savute Safari Lodge
Eleven luxury chalets and one family chalet, taking a maximum of 24 guests, plus a separate pilot and guide room. Chalets are built on raised local-timber decks with private landscaped decks. Power is 24-hour solar with generator backup, and water is treated by reverse osmosis.

Indoor and outdoor dining, a swimming pool overlooking a waterhole, a fire deck, a self-service bar, a photographic hide, a viewing deck with a telescope, a curio shop and laundry.
Who it suits
Travellers whose priority is predators, and photographers who will use the hide. Children are accepted from six years.
Location and access
Savute has its own airstrip and is normally reached by light aircraft. It is also reachable by 4×4, but the sand ridge routes into Savute are among the more demanding drives in Botswana and should not be attempted casually.

The Savute Channel does what it likes
The channel has dried up and refilled repeatedly over the past century with no reliable pattern, and the marsh changes character with it. Practically, that means a photograph of Savute taken five years ago may not describe what you will find. Ask what the water is doing in the season you are booking rather than assuming.
Why the zebra migration is worth timing for
Botswana’s zebra move between the Chobe–Linyanti system and the Makgadikgadi grasslands, and Savute sits on the route. The operator flags roughly November to December and February to April. That is also when predators concentrate, which is the real reason to be here then rather than in the quieter dry-season months.
