Chobe Bakwena Lodge stands on the Chobe riverfront at Old Kazungula, between Kasane and the border posts. Fifteen chalets, five of them raised into the trees, and a rate that includes meals, laundry and two activities a day. It is the smallest of the riverfront properties in this catalogue and the one that behaves most like a camp.

Chalets

Fifteen en-suite chalets: eight riverine, five elevated treetop chalets standing about three metres up, one family and one honeymoon. Air conditioning, mosquito nets, and indoor and outdoor showers.

Facilities at Chobe Bakwena Lodge

A chlorine-free eco pool filtered through plants, a river-view restaurant and bar, a curio shop, Wi-Fi, laundry and 24-hour security. Rates are fully inclusive of meals, laundry and two activities daily, normally a game drive and a Chobe boat cruise.

Who it suits

Travellers who want a small riverfront property with everything included, rather than a large lodge with an activity menu.

Location and access

Tar off the Kasane–Kazungula road. The lodge runs airport transfers from Kasane. No 4×4 required.

How we checked this listing

Chalet counts, inclusions and facilities come from the lodge’s own website and rate sheets, and the Botswana Tourism Organisation register. We have not stayed here.

Kazungula, not Kasane

The lodge’s own copy loosely says Kasane, and Botswana Tourism records the address at Old Kazungula. Both are true in the sense that the whole strip runs together, but the practical difference matters: you are closer to the border posts and further from Kasane’s shops, restaurants and operators.

If you are crossing into Zambia or Zimbabwe that is an advantage. If you want to walk to a supermarket it is not. Our Kasane guide explains how the town, the border and the park fit together.

Fully inclusive changes the arithmetic

Most Kasane properties quote a room rate and sell activities separately, which means a two-night stay with a boat cruise and two game drives costs considerably more than the headline. Bakwena quotes inclusive of meals, laundry and two activities a day.

We do not publish rates, so we cannot tell you whether that works out cheaper for you — it depends entirely on how much you intended to do. What we can say is that it removes the daily decision, which for a two or three night riverfront stay is worth something.

Who Chobe Bakwena Lodge suits

  • Travellers who want a small property — fifteen chalets rather than eighty rooms.
  • Anyone crossing at Kazungula, for whom the position saves a run back through Kasane.
  • People who would rather not price activities daily, since the rate already includes two.

It suits you less if you want to be in town, or if you want the flexibility to skip activities you have already paid for.

Book or compare

We have not been able to confirm a booking route for Chobe Bakwena Lodge specifically. Rather than send you to a property that is not this one, the availability button compares stays across Chobe and Kasane. It does not claim to open this property.

We publish no rate here. Prices move with season, occupancy and cancellation terms, and a figure copied once is a figure that goes stale.

Botswana Travel Guide may earn a commission when you book through selected links, at no additional cost to you. It does not change what we list or what we say about it.

What we publish, and what we do not

We publish no rates, no availability, no star ratings and no review scores of our own. Availability is shown by the lodge’s own calendar at the link below; reservations complete by email with the lodge.

If anything here is out of date, tell us through our contact page and we will check it against the source and correct it.
