The Old House is a ten-room guesthouse on President Avenue in central Kasane, between Hunters Mall and the golf course, looking over the Chobe. It is walkable to the town’s shops, restaurants and tour operators, which almost nothing else on the riverfront is.

Who it suits
Travellers who want to be in Kasane rather than at a resort on its edge, and anyone who values walking to dinner over a large lodge’s facilities.
Location and access
Central Kasane on tar, with parking on site and airport transfers available. Chobe National Park is roughly ten minutes away by boat from the town frontage.
How we checked this listing
Room counts and facilities come from the guesthouse’s own website. We have not stayed here.

An honest note on the reviews
The Old House is well regarded overall and ranks near the top of Kasane’s guesthouses, but the independent feedback is genuinely mixed. Guests consistently praise the staff and the food; they raise maintenance, plumbing and room size just as consistently. Both things are true and we would rather say so.
If you are choosing on the strength of the location and the kitchen, that is a reasonable basis. If you are expecting resort-standard rooms, look at the larger riverfront properties instead.
Being in town is the point
Kasane is small, and almost all of the riverfront accommodation sits at one end or the other with a drive between it and the shops. The Old House is one of the few places where you can leave your vehicle parked and walk — to a supermarket, to an operator’s office, to somewhere other than the hotel restaurant for dinner.
For a two or three night stay built around boat cruises and a Victoria Falls day trip, that is worth a great deal. Our Kasane guide covers what is actually in the town and how far apart it all is.
Who The Old House suits
- Independent travellers who want to book activities themselves rather than take a lodge’s package.
- Families, for the three family rooms in a small property with a garden.
- Anyone doing a Victoria Falls day trip, since the operators are a short walk away.
It suits you less if you want a resort, a spa, or rooms with no maintenance question marks.

We publish no rate here. Prices move with season, occupancy and cancellation terms, and a figure copied once is a figure that goes stale.

What we publish, and what we do not
We publish no rates, no availability, no star ratings and no review scores of our own. Prices and room availability are shown by the booking partner at the link below, not by us.
