Letlhakane, and why it is on this site
Letlhakane sits in the Boteti sub-district beside the Orapa and Letlhakane diamond mines, on the road that runs from the A1 towards Rakops, the Boteti River and the western side of the Makgadikgadi. It is a mining and service town, and its accommodation is built for contractors rather than tourists.
For a traveller it is the last real town before the pans if you are approaching from the south-east, and its guesthouses are the practical alternative to driving straight through. We list them for what they are.
