Location and access
In Selebi-Phikwe in the Central district of eastern Botswana, the practical base for the Bobirwa area and the eastern approach to the Tuli Block.
Selebi-Phikwe, and why it is on this site
Selebi-Phikwe grew around a copper-nickel mine, and when the mine closed in 2016 the town lost its reason for being what it was. It is still the largest place in this corner of eastern Botswana, and it still has more hotel rooms than anywhere else between Francistown and the Tuli Block.
For travellers that is the point. It is the practical base for the Bobirwa district and the eastern approach to Tuli, and its hotels are priced for a town that no longer has a mining payroll behind it.
