Muchenje Safari Lodge sits on an escarpment inside the Chobe Forest Reserve at the western end of Chobe, near Ngoma — about 45 minutes from Kasane and a long way in spirit from the riverfront hotels. There are no fences between the lodge and the western park boundary. It has been independently owned and run for over twenty years.

How we checked this listing
Cottage count, location, distances and the ownership history come from the lodge’s own website. We have not stayed here.
The western end of Chobe is a different park
Almost everyone experiences Chobe from the Kasane riverfront, where the elephant concentrations are extraordinary and so is the traffic. The Ngoma end has the same floodplain with a fraction of the vehicles. If you have done the riverfront cruise and found it crowded, this is the answer rather than a different park.
Escarpment position, and what it costs you
Sitting above the floodplain gives long views and cooler nights, which is genuinely pleasant. The trade is that you are not on the water: game viewing from the deck is distant rather than intimate, and the boat activity involves a drive to the river first. Weigh that against the riverfront lodges before booking.

Book or compare
We have not been able to confirm a property-level booking route for Muchenje Safari Lodge that we could verify by clicking it. Rather than send you to a property that is not this one, the availability button compares stays across Chobe and Kasane. It does not claim to open this property.
We publish no rate here. Prices move with season, occupancy and cancellation terms, and a figure copied once is a figure that goes stale.
Botswana Travel Guide may earn a commission when you book through selected links, at no additional cost to you. It does not change what we list or what we say about it.
What we publish, and what we do not
We publish no nightly rate, no live availability, no star rating and no review score of our own. Those move with season and occupancy, and a figure copied once is a figure that goes stale. What we publish is what the property is, where it sits, who it suits and how you reach it.
