Phokoje Bush Lodge is the bushveld property at Selebi-Phikwe, and it has been the standard first or second night for people driving up from Johannesburg for years. It takes chalet and room guests, self-caterers and campers on one site, which is unusual this far east.

Location and access
At Selebi-Phikwe in eastern Botswana, roughly five and a half hours by road from Johannesburg, and a base for Letsibogo Dam. It is also a practical staging night for travellers continuing north to Maun, Chobe and the Okavango.
Selebi-Phikwe, and why it is on this site
Selebi-Phikwe grew around a copper-nickel mine, and when the mine closed in 2016 the town lost its reason for being what it was. It is still the largest place in this corner of eastern Botswana, and it still has more hotel rooms than anywhere else between Francistown and the Tuli Block.
For travellers that is the point. It is the practical base for the Bobirwa district and the eastern approach to Tuli, and its hotels are priced for a town that no longer has a mining payroll behind it.
Who it suits
- Travellers driving up from South Africa who want a first or second night in Botswana.
- Self-drive parties who want a campsite with ablutions and braai areas rather than a hotel room.
- Conference and function guests in eastern Botswana.
