It is one of the few Maun properties that runs a hotel, self-catering cottages and a riverfront campsite on the same plot, which makes it unusually easy to match to the way you are actually travelling.

Three ways to stay on one plot
Most Maun properties pick a lane: a hotel, a lodge, or a campsite. Sedia runs all three, and that is genuinely useful in a town where travel parties often split. A family arriving by air and a couple arriving in a kitted 4×4 can book the same address without one of them compromising.
The self-catering cottages are the part most often overlooked. A kitchenette matters more than it sounds in Maun, because the town is where self-drivers do their last real supermarket shop before Moremi or the Makgadikgadi — our 4×4 and vehicle requirements guide covers what that shop needs to cover.
A property that has been reinvested in
Sedia closed for refurbishment between January and March 2026. That is worth knowing for two reasons: it means what you find should not match older photographs, and it is reasonable evidence that the property is being actively maintained rather than coasting, which is not true of every long-established Maun address.
The name is the other thing to watch. The hotel’s own site now says Sedia Hotel, but Botswana Tourism, the review sites and most booking platforms still carry the older Sedia Riverside Hotel. They are the same property.
Who Sedia Hotel suits
- Families, for the two-bedroom cottages with a kitchenette and the playground — a combination Maun offers in very few places.
- Self-drivers who want a powered riverfront pitch but also a pool, a bar and a kitchen they do not have to run.
- Travellers booking activities on arrival, since the activity desk is on site rather than a drive away in town.
It suits you less if you want to be deep in the bush. This is the edge of a working town, and it feels like it.
