Swamp Stop is a twelve-unit establishment in Maboditsa ward, Sepopa, on the eastern bank of the Okavango Panhandle. It is registered with Botswana Tourism as an operating game lodge and tented camp. Sepopa is where the road from Gumare meets the river, and it is the point most travellers use for boat transfers up the Panhandle and across the water towards Seronga and the eastern delta.

Facilities at Swamp Stop
We list no facilities here. The official register records the licence class and address but not the facility detail, and no other verifiable source was available, so anything more would be guesswork.
Location and access
Maboditsa ward, Sepopa, North West District, on the eastern bank of the Okavango Panhandle between Gumare and Shakawe.
Small properties, and what they trade
Maun has a long tail of small owner-run guesthouses that sit between the big riverside lodges and the campsites. They are usually quieter and often better value, and they almost never have a restaurant, a pool of any size, or an activity desk.
A good number of them appear only on the national tourism register, with no website and no booking channel. That is not a sign they are not real; it is a sign they serve people who ring ahead.
Who it suits
- Travellers taking a boat transfer to Seronga or the eastern delta
- Self-drive parties crossing the Panhandle
- Fishing and birding trips on the upper Okavango
- Anyone breaking the drive between Maun and Shakawe
