Where Tawana sits
Tawana stands in the south-eastern sector of the Moremi Game Reserve, on the banks of the perennial Gomoti river. Immediately west, across the river, lies the Chitabe and Sandibe concession, NG31. It is one of the few premier camps built inside Moremi itself rather than on a concession outside it.
An unfenced camp
The camp is entirely unfenced, and wildlife moves through it. That is a genuine feature rather than a marketing line, and it shapes how the camp is run — guests are escorted after dark, and the rhythm of a stay is set partly by what is standing between the tents.
The setting
Tawana sits among the lush forests and grasslands that line the Gomoti. The river is perennial, which means water in front of camp across the year rather than only at flood.

There are eight rooms. The style is contemporary safari rather than classic canvas, with a main deck, lounge and firepit looking out over the river.
The partnership with Chief Tawana Moremi
The camp is run in partnership with Chief Tawana Moremi, and it is explicit about preserving the ecosystem and celebrating the cultural heritage of the region. Moremi Game Reserve itself was proclaimed by the Batawana community, and the camp’s name and partnership acknowledge that history directly.
Game viewing in Moremi
Moremi is one of the richest wildlife areas in Botswana, holding elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, wild dog and very large numbers of antelope. The south-eastern sector along the Gomoti is productive year-round.
The Gomoti river
The Gomoti is one of the Delta’s south-eastern arteries. Its perennial flow concentrates game on the banks and supports a different set of species from the drier interior of the reserve.
Dining
Meals are a considered part of the offering, taken on the main deck and around the firepit. The camp presents itself as premier rather than rustic.

When to visit
The camp is open year-round. The dry months from May to October concentrate game hardest; the green season is quieter, greener and stronger for birds and newborn animals.
