Thobela Guest House is a bed and breakfast at Mahalapye, registered with Botswana Tourism as an operating establishment. Mahalapye is roughly two hundred kilometres north of Gaborone on the A1, which puts it exactly where a driver who left the capital in the afternoon starts thinking about stopping, and small guest houses here exist largely for that traffic and for the railway and district offices.

Facilities at Thobela Guest House
We list no facilities here. The official register records the licence class and address but not the facility detail, and no other verifiable source was available, so anything more would be guesswork.
Location and access
At Mahalapye, Central District, on the A1 between Gaborone and Palapye.
Mahalapye, and why it is on this site
Mahalapye sits on the A1 roughly halfway between Gaborone and Francistown, at the point where a lot of drives stop being comfortable. It is a railway and administrative town rather than a destination.
Between Gaborone and Palapye there is very little else, and an A1 stopover with a bed and secure parking is worth more to a self-drive traveller than a lodge two hundred kilometres off the route.
Who it suits
- Drivers who left Gaborone late and want a first stop
- Travellers breaking the A1 run to Francistown
- Government and railway staff working in Mahalapye
- Anyone who prefers a small guest house to a highway hotel
