Where Camp Kuzuma sits
Camp Kuzuma stands in the Kuzuma Forest Reserve in the Chobe Enclave, in the north-east of Botswana between Kasane and Pandamatenga. The camp is deliberately isolated: there is no other lodge within roughly 25 kilometres. It sits on a wildlife corridor that runs between Chobe National Park and Hwange in Zimbabwe, which is what gives the area its game, and it is a manageable drive from Victoria Falls.
The tents
There are seven tents, each with a king-sized bed under a mosquito net and a deep Victorian bath. Seven units is small even by Botswana standards, and the camp is run on that basis — this is not a lodge where you share a vehicle with strangers for long.
Off-grid and eco-certified
The camp runs off-grid and is certified under Botswana’s eco-tourism scheme, which the Botswana Tourism Organisation records against the property. Running off-grid this far from Kasane is a real constraint rather than a marketing line, and the camp is built around it while still carrying the comforts guests expect at this level.
Game viewing
The wildlife here moves along the corridor rather than being concentrated on a river frontage, so the experience is different from the Chobe riverfront. Elephant are the headline: the corridor between Chobe and Hwange carries one of the largest elephant populations in Africa, and the camp’s own material centres on close elephant encounters from the camp and its waterhole.
Guiding
Game drives are run by the camp’s guides in the reserve and the surrounding wilderness. Because the camp is small and remote, drives are unhurried and there is little vehicle traffic to work around.
The waterhole and armchair viewing
Much of the game viewing at Kuzuma happens without leaving camp. The camp is positioned on a waterhole and markets “armchair” game viewing from the deck; there is a live camera on the property’s website, which is a fair indication of how much traffic the water gets.
Spa and facilities
Spa treatments are offered at camp. Facilities are otherwise what a seven-tent off-grid camp can sustain: a main area, deck and pool overlooking the waterhole, and dining as a single seating.
Combining with Victoria Falls and Chobe
Kuzuma’s position makes it a natural link in a circuit. Kasane and the Chobe riverfront are within reach for a day, and Victoria Falls is a short transfer across the Zimbabwean border. Travellers often use Kuzuma as the quiet, private half of a trip whose other half is busier.
When to visit
The dry season from May to October concentrates game on water and is the strongest period for the corridor, with elephant numbers building as the season progresses. The green season from November to March brings birds, newborn game and dramatic skies, with softer light and thicker bush.
Who it suits
Travellers who want a small, private, elephant-focused camp rather than a riverfront hotel, and who are comfortable being genuinely remote. It suits photographers, returning safari travellers, and anyone pairing Botswana with Victoria Falls or Hwange.
