Accommodation in Kasane

Kasane exists because of Chobe. The national park gate is minutes from town, the Chobe river runs along its northern edge, and the point where Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet is just east at Kazungula. Kasane Airport takes scheduled flights, and Victoria Falls is close enough to be a day trip or a natural next stop.

The accommodation splits fairly cleanly. River-facing lodges and hotels sit along the Chobe frontage and out toward the park. In the town itself, and along the Kazungula road, the register carries a steady supply of guesthouses and self-catering places used by self-drive travellers, overland crews and people timing a border crossing.

Demand tracks the Chobe season closely, and the town tends to fill before the camps do, so it is worth fixing a bed before you fix park activities. Everything below is licensed with Botswana Tourism, and the pages record class, locality and capacity rather than guessing at facilities.

Arriving by road, Kasane is about 300 km north of Nata on the A33 — the stretch where elephants routinely cross the tar, and the reason nobody sensible drives it after dark. At Kazungula, just east of town, the borders of four countries meet and the bridge now carries traffic into Zambia.

Accommodation in Kasane spans guesthouses, self-catering units, lodges, hotels, bed and breakfasts, safari lodges and tented camps, which is what you would expect of a town that serves both the park and three borders.
