Machaba Camp sits in the 35,000-hectare Khwai Concession, whose western border touches Moremi Game Reserve. It is a classic canvas camp rather than a lodge — safari tents, fire pits, a tented dining area — and unusually for this end of the Delta it takes children of all ages.

Eight double tents and two family tents, taking a maximum of 24 guests. Power runs on solar with generator backup, and Wi-Fi reaches the rooms only.
Facilities at Machaba Camp
A tented dining and social area with a bar and fire pits, a plunge pool, spa treatments, a library and a curio shop.
Who it suits
Families — the camp accepts all ages, which a great many Delta camps do not — and travellers who want canvas rather than glass and thatch.
Location and access
Fly-in by light aircraft; the camp is a short game drive from the nearest airstrip.
Why the Khwai concession earns its price
A concession on the Moremi boundary gets the reserve’s game without the reserve’s rules. Night drives and off-road tracking are permitted here and forbidden a few hundred metres away inside Moremi. For anyone whose trip hinges on predators after dark, that boundary is the whole decision.
Water here is seasonal, and the camp says so
Mokoro and boating at Machaba depend on the flood, which the operator states plainly rather than implying year-round water. Between roughly June and October you can usually expect both; outside that window the programme is game drives and walking. Ask which you are getting before you book if the mokoro is the point.
