Accommodation in Ghanzi
Ghanzi is the only town of any size on the long crossing between Maun, Kang and the Mamuno border with Namibia, which makes it a stop rather than a destination for most travellers. Alongside the town hotels and guesthouses, the Ghanzi farm block carries game farms and Kalahari lodges that are reachable by road — unusual in Botswana, where most game accommodation is fly-in.
Ghanzi is the main town on the Trans-Kalahari route. The A2 runs west from here to the Mamuno border with Namibia and east toward Kang and Gaborone, while the road north leads to Maun. It is also the last substantial town before the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, which makes a night here part of the supply plan as much as the sleep plan.
The accommodation is a mix you do not see elsewhere in the country: farm-based lodges and campsites out on the Ghanzi farms, a small number of hotels and guesthouses in town, and places connected to the San communities around D’Kar. Much of it is built for people crossing the Kalahari rather than staying in it.
Fuel, water and stores are worth sorting here rather than further on. Every property below is licensed with Botswana Tourism, and the pages state what the register publishes — class, locality and capacity — and nothing more.
